LUX NEGUS

long  take

In filmmaking, a long take (also called a continuous take, continuous shot, or oner) is a filmic shot with a duration much longer than the conventional editing pace either of the film itself or of films in general. Length of a long take was originally limited to how much film the magazine of a motion picture camera could hold, but the advent of digital video has considerably lengthened the maximum potential length of a take. The loop creates another variation for the long take, a repetition.

For House of Lux, the long take format provides a possibility nest and tending space for introspective friendship/relationship praxis. Through curated long take portrait sessions conducted in settings where we recall the difficulties and nostalgia of family and familiarity (home, porch, block, neighborhood, favorite spot), we use the audio and video recording format to emerge methods for conduction with the body, posture, gesture, speech acts, objects, architecture and arrangements; studies for reimagining personhood. Considering the questions who your people?   who is you?   Common questions being asked in our family circles. Our work is a common field
