WHO WE ARE
House of Lux is a collective of Black queer migrant readers and cinephilia. Drawn together by the dreamy reminiscence of archives with cousins weathering precarious state conditions .....crack North Philadelphia & the Great Migrations. what Carlton Turner call refugees fleeing the South. House of Lux creates opportunities for social play, speculative making, film/media, creative writing, embodied organizing and collective scripting that deconstructs, documents and interprets Black queer working class stories of invention and absurdity in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the U.S. Northeast. Our cultural kitchen model gives a location to channel Black joy, grief, difficulty and connections embedded in family and culture. Play is devised from interaction with:
